The tree of life

How fast the year flew by!! Days went by like falling autumn leaves of myriad hues.. Some were flown with the wind or down a stream.. Some fell on mud and decayed fast.. Some withered under the later ones.. Some ended up between the pages of a book to be cherished often.. Some were preserved to eternity falling snow.. But each of them made a mark on the tree to make the tree unique.. Each gone day made an impact, making you grow a little more... Now you stand  hoping for beautiful days to come.. Just like the tree stands tall waiting for new leaves to sprout... Preetha Raj

The C.A.B

It's disheartening to see that a bill on the basis of religion is passed by both the houses of parliament of this great secular democracy. Are we stooping to the levels of those neighbours whose major misfortune is their overly religious attitudes and sentiments? It is frightening particularly for women because such attitudes strike us real hard. Please let us stay as we were -  secular and democratic. Isn't that the whole idea of India? Isn't that the lifeline of our glorious nation? Preetha Raj

Who are you?

Image
Who are you? Sometimes you caress me like a cool breeze... Sometimes you are the tempest that violently uproot me.. Sometimes you make me glide very high in the air... Sometimes you drag me back from my fantasies... Sometimes you pamper me like a baby... Sometimes you ruthlessly open me up to expose all the ugliness within... Sometimes you become very raw, blotched with glaring imperfections... All through these, it's certain that we are inseparable.. Are you the reflection of my soul? Or my alter ego? Or my guardian angel? Who are you? Preetha Raj

December

Image
Dewy mornings and starry nights.. Can they heal the wounds of sorrow and despair? Can they mend the broken heart? Can they clear fogs of confusion in the mind? Can they bring out solutions for all the issues? I feel they can.. When I see first rays of the sun through a dew drop.. When I hear chirping birds along the fragrance filled morning walk path.. When I see flower beds of various colours under flowering trees... When brave little birds fly off only at the very last moment as I approach.. When I see an idle cat basking in the sun in the cool morning, daydreaming.. When I see colours and shapes of festivities in the shop windows.. When I watch the twinkling stars.. Then.... Somehow I know they can.. Preetha Raj

Dreams

Image
Not all dreams are to be realised.. Some are to stay as dreams forever.. Like a sweet fragrant drizzle on the dry earth.. Like a cool breeze to take away weariness.. Like a gush of fresh air into a stuffy room.. Like a prayer to stay hopeful, to go on, to live.. Preetha Raj

Solitude

Image
Sometimes one yearns for solitude.. To be mindful... To retrospect.. To absorb a beautiful melody... To sing from the soul.. To daydream.. To get into little time machines called books and to wander and get lost in faraway lands in various time periods... To rediscover oneself from the clutter and chaos of everyday life... Preetha Raj

Unbelievable- Netflix original mini-series.

It's gripping. Watched it in 2 days..Based on a true story..The relentless search by two women detectives to find out a serial rapist, who mastered the art of wiping away all the evidences.. What struck me most is how different are the approaches of male and female officers  towards sexual violence.. Women obviously know better about the devastating damage such an act of violence inflicts upon the victim.. Loved the way the two women put pieces together to catch the rapist, with all feminine sensibilities intact.. Especially loved Merritt Wever as detective Karen Duvall and Kaitlyn Dever as Marie Adler, the young victim.. Preetha Raj
